HOKEY SMOKE, SHE S TOPLESS! - Funny story - when this was first on LP my youngest sister bought this record and had it close to the stereo in the living room. My late father picked up the album, looked at it and said, Hokey smoke, she s topless!Seeing Melissa s cover again brought this all back. All in all a good album, but I liked Hey Rickey a lot more.
Melissa s best album. - This album was, in my opinion, at the height of Melissa s tenure with Arista Records. The album is full of one strong track after another. She never disappoints with every song. Melissa s career should have been much bigger than it was. Arista just forgot about her when they started dealing with the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. However, if they would have stuck to the real talents, like Manchester, then we would have real superstars in pop music. Melissa Manchester is one of the most talented vocalist of the 70 s and 80 s. This album will tell you why. Buy it!
great on cd! - this was a classic vocal album when released. if this is love, for the working girl, you and me, without you - all with great lyrics and perfect vocal delivery - she is on fire. now that i have it on cd i am getting into the other cuts i never got to because i was so mesmerized by the ballads when first released. thanks wounded bird!
Lovers After All was the sleeper hit on this LP - I bought this on vinyl. An ex-roommate threw my old records away! Manchester s duet with Peabo Bryson was my only reason for getting it. WHUR radio in DC used to play the song as part of its quiet storm music mix. Maybe I will get a used CD to replace the long gone record.
