Melissa Manchester is one of the premier female vocalists of the last three decades! She has had loads of charting albums over that time. Surprisingly very few of them have ever been issued on CD. Bright Eyes, her second album, reached # 159 on the Billboard charts in 1974. 2006.

Soulful Album - You just HAVE to listen to I can t Get Started . I have not forgotten it in 30 years. It is the most beautiful song. Unfortunately it s not on Itunes yet. What are they waiting for????

A brilliant record - Bright Eyes has been out of print for years. Thank God that it s out on the shelves again. Before Melissa got sidelined by MOR/AOR merchants, and made albums that were commercially compromised, she made wonderful music. If you ve ever liked Laura Nyro, Judee Sill, Tom Waits, Rickie Lee Jones, then you ll enjoy Bright Eyes. And if you like this one, check out When I Look Down That Road - her return to form.

at last - Real songs, a real singer in the studio singing WITH musicians - what a relief and what a gutsy album. I should have given Home to Myself 5 stars just for the title track. Got both of them at the same time and it s just great to hear this music again. HTM just says it all for me.Kind of a shock to find The Dixie Hummingbirds are on O Heaven - what a great pairing.I have to agree that they could have included some extra material - notes would help, lyrics would be great but her diction is great you really don t have to guess what did she say there?Ahh, Melissa, so good to have you back in the house....and really loud.

Released at last! - Ever since the world went to CD, I ve been waiting for a release of Bright Eyes, an extraordinary album. I ll never forget the liner notes explaining that her analyst sent her back time after time until her music and lyrics expressed the total id, the passion from which her feelings emanate. (OK, that s my recollection from what I read in 1973. I ll find out how much is true when I receive the CD I just ordered!).Listening to Inclined this evening, I started crying at her poignant description and simple resignation at the failure of a one-sided relationship. The rest of the tracks are just as powerful.
